About Orissa Kennel Club: (OKC)

The Orissa Kennel Club was formed in the year 1982 with a few dog lovers getting together to form an organisation to further the interests of dogs and disseminate proper information to the public to create an awareness about “Man’s best friend”. The Founder President was the renowned naturalist and ornithologist Mr. U. N. Dev, while the Honorary Secretary Dr. S.K. Ray, a noted Rotarian and former Director of Veterinary of Animal Husbandry and Animal Welfare, and one of the top canine practitioners, in the country. While the first meeting was held in 1982, it was only in the year 1985 that the club organised its maiden Inaugural Twin Shows at Bhubaneswar which had the privilege of the then Governor of Orissa, Shri Bishambhar Nath Pande inaugurating the same.

The OKC had by then been granted affiliation to the Kennel Club of India, which is the parent body of all canine activities in the country. As the only affiliated club of the Kennel Club of India in the state, the OKC has been at the forefront of all canine activities in the state for more than two and half decades.
